About the Mantis MTP-1013 Ford 1.5 EcoBoost Performance Ignition Coil.
This Ford 1.5 EcoBoost Performance Ignition Coil is engineered specifically for Ford’s three-cylinder 1.5 EcoBoost engine. Most notably, it fits the iconic Ford Fiesta ST Mk8 and 1.5-litre Puma ST, together with compatible Focus ST-Line applications.
The same 1.5 EcoBoost Performance Ignition Coil also supports selected Ford Focus and Kuga models powered by the 150PS and 182PS versions of the 1.5 EcoBoost engine, covering compatible applications from around 2018 to 2026.
These engines are well supported by the performance aftermarket, and the MTP-1013 adds a carefully engineered High Performance coil to any engine tuning upgrades - combining Mantis quality, stronger spark performance and direct OE plug-and-play fitment.

Will Mantis coils fit my car?

Why do my original ignition coils fail?
Ignition coils operate in one of the most demanding environments found anywhere on a modern car.
They are exposed to heat, vibration and repeated electrical loading, often while mounted directly onto the engine. Every time a spark plug fires, the ignition coil must convert the car’s low battery voltage into the much higher voltage needed to create a spark inside the combustion chamber.
Over time, this repeated stress will inevitably cause the coil’s internal insulation, windings, electrical connections or outer casing to deteriorate.

Can Mantis coils help fix misfires?
They can help if the misfire is caused by weak or failing ignition coils. However, misfires can also be caused by spark plugs, injectors, wiring or other engine issues, so proper diagnosis is recommended.
When should I change my original coils?
There's no single answer to this, but we always recommend that by around 60k miles / 100k kms, your original coils will be deteriorating. You may already be noticing poor running, you may have a fault code - or often, over the years, you may not have noticed the gradual rougher running or lower power that results from weak ignition coils.

Do I need to change anything else?
No coding, wiring changes or ECU calibration are required. For best results, we recommend fitting Mantis coils with fresh, correctly specified spark plugs.
