Audi RS3 8V Facelift & 8Y, TT RS 8S, RS Q3 F3 — 2.5 TFSI evo Performance Ignition Coils

The 400 PS EA855 evo is the aluminium-block second act of Audi's nine-time Engine of the Year — lighter, harder-hitting and still singing that 1-2-4-5-3 warble in the RS3 8V facelift, RS3 8Y, TT RS 8S and RS Q3 F3.

The evo switched to the 06H 905 110 top-hat ignition coil, and MTP-1003 is its direct plug & play performance replacement: UK-engineered, 12% more spark energy across all five cylinders, ready for big boost and bigger maps.

Signs your RS3 (8V facelift / 8Y) · TT RS (8S) · RS Q3 (F3) needs new coils

> Misfire codes P0301–P0305 on VCDS / OBDeleven or a generic OBDII scanner

> Rough idle when cold — the five-cylinder warble turning lumpy

> Flat spots or hesitation on full boost above 4,500 rpm

> Intermittent EPC or flashing check-engine light under hard acceleration

> Timing pull on logged runs without another obvious cause

> Stage 1/2 cars: misfires appearing only after the remap — classic sign the OE coils are out of headroom

Installation notes

Direct plug & play — no coding, no VCDS work. Remove the engine cover, unclip each connector, pull the OE 06H coils and press in the MTP-1003s.

Always replace as a set of 5 — mixed-age coils give uneven spark and the ECU pulls timing to protect the engine, which wastes the upgrade. The rearmost coil sits tight against the bulkhead — a long-reach pick helps release the clip. Total install time: 20–30 minutes.

Common questions

Will this fit my RS3 / TT RS / RS Q3 without coding?

Yes. Direct plug & play — the ECU reads MTP-1003 identically to the OE 06H 905 110 coil. No coding or adaptation needed on any EA855 evo (DAZA / DNWA) five-cylinder.

I have an RS3 8P, pre-facelift RS3 8V, TT RS 8J or RS Q3 8U — is this my coil?

No. The first-generation iron-block 2.5 TFSI (CEPA / CZGB / CZGA / CTSA) uses the 07K/06E pencil coil, which is MTP-1002. Use the coil finder or check the number stamped on your existing coil. This page covers the EA855 evo cars from 2017 on.

I'm running Stage 1 / Stage 2 — are these coils up to 500+ bhp?

This is exactly where they earn their keep. A mapped DAZA/DNWA pushes cylinder pressures far beyond factory spec and tired OE coils are one of the most common misfire causes on tuned five-cylinders. MTP-1003 carries 12% more spark energy with better heat handling — the same top-hat coil family fitted across the EA888 Gen3/4 range and the RS6's 4.0 V8. Same connector, same fitment, straight swap.

EA855 evo application list — plus the wider 06H/06K top-hat family:

> Audi RS3 Sportback / Saloon 8V facelift (2017–2020) — 400 bhp, DAZA

> Audi RS3 Sportback / Saloon 8Y (2021+) — 400 bhp, DNWA

> Audi TT RS 8S (2016–2023) — 400 bhp, DAZA / DNWA

> Audi RS Q3 / RS Q3 Sportback F3 (2019+) — 400 bhp, DNWA

First-generation 2.5 TFSI (RS3 8P, RS3 8V pre-facelift, TT RS 8J, RS Q3 8U) uses the 07K pencil coil: see MTP-1002.
