Installation notes
Direct plug & play — no coding, no VCDS work required. Pop the plastic engine cover (Torx or pull-off depending on year), lift the coil connectors (green tab, lift and pull), single 10mm bolt each coil, coils slide straight up. The 1.0 TSI three-cylinder needs 3 coils; the 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.5 TSI four-cylinder needs 4 coils — if you're on a 4-cyl, use the "Add individual coils" button to bump the quantity to 4. Always replace as a full set — mixed-age coils cause uneven spark and the ECU pulls timing to compensate, killing the performance benefit. Torque coil bolts to 8 Nm. Total install: 10-15 minutes.
Common questions
Will this fit my Polo / Golf 1.0 TSI / A1 / Ibiza without coding?
Yes. Direct plug & play replacement — the ECU reads MTP-1001 identically to the OE VAG coil. No coding, no VCDS or OBDeleven work needed on any EA111 or EA211 variant.
Do I really need the full set, or can I just replace one?
We strongly recommend replacing all coils as a set — 3 for the 1.0 TSI three-cyl, 4 for the 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.5 TSI four-cyl. If one coil has failed, the others have seen identical heat and hours — they're likely close behind. Mixed-age coils cause uneven spark, and the ECU compensates by pulling timing, which loses the performance benefit of the new coils. That said, if you're in a bind, one MTP-1001 will absolutely work as a temporary fix.
I've got a 1.4 TSI — is this the right coil, and how many do I need?
Yes, MTP-1001 fits all EA111 and EA211 1.4 TSI variants (CAVA, CAXA, CJZA, CPTA, CTHA and the twincharger BLG / BMY / CAV). The 1.4 TSI is a four-cylinder, so you need 4 coils — use the "Add individual coils" button on the product page to bump the quantity. Same coil as the 1.0 TSI, just one more of them.
