Ford Fiesta ST Mk7 (ST180 & ST200) — Performance Ignition Coils

The Mk7 Fiesta ST is one of the greatest small hot hatches ever made — the car every road tester told you to buy from 2013 to 2017, and most of them bought one themselves. 180 bhp, factory Recaros, and a chassis so alert it made cars twice the price feel half asleep. It won practically every group test it entered, and the 200 PS ST200 sent the Mk7 out on a high.

All of that character comes from a small-capacity 1.6 EcoBoost working hard under boost — and hard-working turbo engines are exactly where ignition coils age fastest.

MTP-1012 is the Mantis answer for the Fiesta ST Mk7: a direct plug & play performance coil delivering 12% more spark energy across all four cylinders, with the thermal headroom for standard and Mountune / mapped cars alike. Same fit, stronger spark — every cylinder, every time.

Signs your Fiesta ST Mk7 — ST180 / ST200 needs new coils

> Misfire codes P0301–P0304 on FORScan or a generic OBDII scanner

> Rough idle when cold — especially first thing in the morning

> Loss of top-end pull above 4,000 rpm on boost

> Boost feeling "flat" on hard throttle in the mid-range — classic Fiesta ST symptom, especially on mapped cars

> Fuel economy dropping without another obvious explanation

> Intermittent check-engine light that clears on next start

Installation notes

Direct plug & play — no coding, no FORScan work required. Pull off the engine cover, unclip the 4 coil connectors, remove the OE coils and swap in the MTP-1012s. Because the 1.6 EcoBoost is a small-capacity turbo working hard under boost, always replace as a set of 4 — mixed-age coils cause uneven spark distribution and the PCM pulls timing to compensate, negating the benefit of the new units. Torque coil bolts to 8 Nm. Total install time on a Fiesta ST: 20–25 minutes.

Common questions

Will this fit my Fiesta ST Mk7 without coding?

Yes. Direct plug & play replacement — the PCM reads MTP-1012 identically to the OE Ford coil. No coding and no FORScan work needed, on both ST180 and ST200.

Do I really need all 4, or can I just replace one?

We strongly recommend replacing all 4 as a set. If one coil has failed, the other three have seen identical heat and hours — they're likely close behind. Mixed-age coils cause uneven spark, and the PCM compensates by pulling timing, which loses the performance benefit of the new coils. That said, if you're in a bind and just need to get the ST moving, one MTP-1012 will absolutely work as a temporary fix.

I'm running Mountune MP215 / MP230 (or a Revo / Pumaspeed / ZeroNine or any other aftermarket map) — is this coil up to it?

Yes — this is exactly the use case MTP-1012 is built for. Mapped Fiesta STs push cylinder pressures well beyond the factory 180 bhp spec, and the OE coil is a known weak link once boost sits higher for longer. MTP-1012 has more headroom, a neodymium primary core with better heat dissipation, and UK-engineered QA — 12% more spark energy with the thermal margin to hold it. Same physical fit, same connector, same wiring — a straight swap.
